A statement from Carole James on Mother's Day
In families like yours and mine, caring for our children is the number one priority.
No job is bigger, more important, or more challenging than raising our sons and daughters.
We teach them right from wrong. We encourage them to do their best. We encourage them to care for others.
Even after they're grown and on their own, we hold them in our hearts and support them in every way we can - even while we care for our own parents and work to pay the bills.
The work that every mother does is vital to our families. It is also the key to strong communities, and a society where we live by the values of fairness and respect for all.
To every mother and grandmother, thank you! I wish you the happiest of days.

James campaign boosted by endorsements as momentum builds for New Democrats
Carole James got a boost this week from several key endorsements, adding to the momentum behind the New Democrats in the final stretch of the campaign.
"These endorsements give our campaign even more energy," said James. "I'm absolutely thrilled to have their support as we head into what will be a very close election on May 12.
"In the final days of this election, traditional Liberal voters are coming to realize that Gordon Campbell has abandoned them. And Green voters are realizing that this time, they have the power to stop him. That's why we're seeing such a strong shift in the last days of the campaign.
"Whether it's care for seniors, saving our rivers or protecting public health care, people are deciding that this time, they will vote NDP."

James will invest in arts and culture
Carole James today announced investments in arts and culture as part of her economic stimulus plan during a campaign stop at the Firehall Arts Centre.
"In this year's budget alone, the Campbell government cut support for the arts by 44 per cent. And BC Arts and Culture Endowment grants will drop 60 per cent," said James. "It makes absolutely no economic sense to cut support for this crucial part of our economy and identity."
