Regional Field Organizer
The BC NDP is hiring a regional field organizer to support constituency associations.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Provincial Director and working within the Field Department, the organizer will be responsible for working with BC NDP constituency associations, candidates, volunteers and Election Planning Committees to build capacity and for supporting all aspects of constituency organizing. The Regional Field Organizer will track, assess and provide regular reports on constituency activities and capacity.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with constituency associations and Election Planning Committees to meet voter contact, organizing, and volunteer recruitment targets;
- Plan, develop, prepare and deliver training curriculum and materials for local volunteers and candidates;
- In coordination with the Field Fundraising Officer, support local fundraising activities to meet annual and election targets;
- Drive strategic election-readiness work including developing and implementing annual and preliminary local and regional campaign plans and budgets, forming Election Planning Committees, nominating candidates and identifying and training potential campaign staff members;
- Respond to questions and requests from BC NDP members and supporters and the general public as appropriate;
- Organize special events as required;
- Perform general organizing and other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with and successfully relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds;
- Ability to work independently and in team settings;
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment;
- Ability to meet deadlines while handling multiple projects;
- Excellent written, verbal and digital communications skills;
- At least one cycle of recent local campaign and pre-election experience;
- Ability to motivate and organize volunteers;
- Willingness and ability to travel as required;
- Excellent political judgment;
- Commitment to the values and principles of the New Democratic Party of BC;
- Knowledge of predictive dialer systems, digital communications tools and other best-in-class campaign tools
Assets
- A valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle are an asset and may be required for remote work;
- Experience and high proficiency using Populus and other BC NDP campaign tools;
- Recent experience working directly with the BC NDP membership and volunteers;
- Event planning experience;
- Recent adult education or training facilitation and course development experience;
- Established working relationships with BC NDP caucus members;
- Written and spoken Mandarin, Cantonese or Punjabi is an asset.
Terms and Conditions
This is a full-time term position for one year from the date of hire with the potential to renew, reporting to the BC NDP Deputy Provincial Director.
The position is covered by the CUPE 3787 Collective Agreement, with a monthly salary of $4,715.62 to $5,477.69 depending on experience, plus benefits.
The position is based at the BC NDP office in Vancouver, BC, with remote work options available upon mutual agreement.
