Regional Field Organizer - Full-time

The BC NDP is hiring a regional field organizer to support electoral district associations in Surrey & Delta.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Provincial Director and working within the Field Department, the organizer will be responsible for working with BC NDP electoral district associations, MLAs, candidates, volunteers and Election Planning Committees in the region to build capacity and for supporting all aspects of organizing and election readiness for the 2024 provincial election. The Regional Field Organizer will track, assess and provide regular reports on organizing activities and capacity.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with electoral district associations and Election Planning Committees to meet pre-election voter contact, organizing, and volunteer recruitment targets;
  • Plan, develop, prepare and deliver training curriculum and materials for local volunteers and candidates;
  • In coordination with the Field Fundraising Officer, support local fundraising activities to meet election targets;
  • Drive and track strategic election-readiness work including the development and implementation of preliminary local and regional campaign plans and budgets, the formation of Election Planning Committees, nomination of candidates and the identification and training of volunteers and potential campaign staff members;
  • Respond to questions and requests from BC NDP members and supporters and the general public as appropriate;
  • Organize special events as required;
  • Perform general organizing and other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Deep familiarity and understanding of Surrey and Delta
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with and successfully relate to volunteers and voters from a wide range of backgrounds;
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings;
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment;
  • Ability to meet deadlines while handling multiple projects;
  • Excellent written, verbal and digital communications skills;
  • At least one cycle of recent local campaign or pre-election experience;
  • Ability to motivate and organize volunteers;
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required;
  • Excellent political judgment;
  • Commitment to the values and principles of the New Democratic Party of BC;
  • Knowledge of predictive dialer systems, digital communications tools and other best-in-class campaign tools

Assets

  • A valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle;
  • Ability to work in multiple languages, including Punjabi, Mandarin or Cantonese
  • Experience and high proficiency using Populus and other BC NDP campaign tools;
  • Recent experience working directly with the BC NDP membership and volunteers;
  • Event planning experience;
  • Recent adult education or training facilitation and course development experience;
  • Established working relationships with BC NDP caucus members

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time term position ending October 21, 2024, reporting to the BC NDP Deputy Provincial Director.

The position is covered by the CUPE 3787 Collective Agreement with a monthly starting wage between $4,998.56 to $5,806.35 depending on experience, plus 10.75% RSP amount, as well as benefits including vacation and extended health coverage.

The position is based out of the BC NDP Provincial Office in Vancouver, BC, with the possibility of some remote work upon mutual agreement.
