I want to get rid of MSP premiums

It’s been a rough few years for British Columbians, especially young people trying to get a start in life and seniors living on fixed incomes. Food bank use is at an all-time high, and more than half of British Columbians are living paycheck to paycheck.

Unfortunately, this government is about to make life rougher. And more unfair.

For more than half a million British Columbians, MSP is being jacked up again.

MSP is unfair. Someone who earns $40,000 should not pay the same as someone who takes in $4 million.

Only BC has MSP premiums. Every other province in the country has rejected them because they hurt middle class families.

Yet year-after-year, this government has jacked up MSP -- under this premier, BC's families now pay almost 25% more.

Families are paying more and getting less. Fees and taxes on middle class families have increased, on average, by $1,000 a year, while the services they use and need are starved of funding.

Meanwhile, this government gave the richest 2% of British Columbians a $1 billion tax break.

This government has the wrong priorities. It hurts struggling middle class families – and hands benefits to those who need help the least.

I believe that all British Columbians should be treated fairly.

That’s why I want to get rid of MSP.
