Doerkson drops another candidate in no-hope seat while defending Maahs
Interim Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson’s double standard is at play again as he dropped candidate Jordan McIntosh, who posted about the Holocaust:
“Can you at LEAST give history a try? Hitler hated EVERYONE except the Aryan "Volk". There's historiographical debate on if holocaust was the goal; he may have not intended death. Lots of jews died because there were LOTS of jews in Europe, NOT because he hated them specifically.” (Link)
The 18-year old McIntosh was running in Vancouver-Strathcona, where the party received just 12% of the vote in 2024.
Meanwhile, Doerkson’s campaign director Katy Merrifield and Chilliwack North candidate Heather Maahs remain on the team.
Doerkson admitted in last night’s debate that it was hateful for Maahs to call gay people (including Elenore Sturko) immoral, but couldn’t explain why she remained a candidate.
He defended one of his campaign director’s racist posts while ignoring her pattern of behaviour and refusing to acknowledge the pain expressed by BC’s Muslim community.
Yet again we’ve seen Lorne Doerkson do the right thing only when it’s convenient, but fail when it’s hard. If he won’t stand up against the extremists in his own party, how can he stand up for British Columbians?
