Doerkson lies about his secret commitments to personal injury lawyers

Earlier today, MoveUP released a letter signed by Lorne Doerkson and sent to the BC Trial Lawyers association, the organization representing personal injury lawyers who previously worked on ICBC cases.

The Trial Lawyers have been lobbying to roll back the BC NDP’s changes that lowered car insurance rates for drivers and has kept them frozen for 7 years.

Pressed on the letter by reporters several times today, Doerkson claimed: “There's been no promises made by me at all.”

This directly contradicts Doerkson’s own commitments in the letter:

“In the first year of a new mandate, a Conservative government will bring in legislation.”

“We'll replace the NDP's no-fault ICBC scheme.”

“Government will get out of the legal profession's business.”

“Everything's on the table, including opening auto insurance to private competition.”

An Ernst & Young analysis shows that Alberta drivers pay twice as much for car insurance under the same system that Doerkson is proposing.
