MAPLE RIDGE – B.C. Conservative candidate Lawrence Mok was featured prominently in a news release titled “U.S. Tariffs Show Cost of NDP Recklessness,” which attempted to blame Trump’s latest round of tariffs on B.C.’s decision to defend itself by banning U.S. liquor.

Mok argued against the ban: “when government imposes a ban, it invites retaliation.”

He posted it to his Facebook, attracting over 400 comments from constituents who took exception with his position.

Mok’s comments followed B.C. Conservative MLAs Ward Stamer, Pete Davis, and Bryan Tepper meeting directly with the U.S. ambassador and telling him they would lift the booze ban as a “measure of good faith” with Trump.
