Meet Rick Glumac, Port Moody-Burquitlam’s BC NDP choice, taking action for you and your family

Rick Glumac, now officially the BC NDP candidate for Port Moody-Burquitlam, is dedicated to making life better for people.

Twice-re-elected as an MLA in 2017 and 2020, Rick Glumac has a long history of fighting for people and local businesses. As a software engineer, a computer graphics supervisor and President of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region, Rick Glumac knows what it takes to grow BC’s tech sector. As a City Councillor in Port Moody, he took action to improve local healthcare and to expand childcare and preschool space. He has continued that record of action in office, as part of a government that is on the side of people.
“I am proud to serve the vibrant communities of Port Moody, Coquitlam, Anmore and Belcarra, and I know just how much families here need a government that’s on their side,” said Glumac. “From reducing childcare costs to hiring more doctors and nurses to growing the strongest and greenest economy in Canada, I’m excited to be part of a BC NDP team that’s helping families build a good life here in BC."

Since forming government in July 2017, the BC NDP has taken action on crucial issues that matter to the people of Port Moody-Burquitlam, including:

  • Putting people ahead of speculators and investors by bringing in tough new restrictions on short-term rentals and a speculation tax, plus simplified approvals that make it easier and faster to get 300,000 new homes built;
  • Connecting people to the care they need by hiring 700 more family doctors, licensing internationally-educated healthcare workers in BC and building a new medical school at SFU Surrey to train even more doctors;
  • Helping people with costs by eliminating MSP Premiums, reducing ICBC rates by $500 a year, boosting the BC Family Benefit by $445, cutting childcare fees in half, and making birth control free; and
  • Taking action to create 75,000 good paying jobs in the last year to make BC an economic leader in Canada, with the highest wages in the country.

“As a City Councillor, Rick led efforts to improve local healthcare, and as an MLA, he has worked internationally to bolster our innovative tech sector and our economy,” said Premier David Eby. “Rick is focused on improving services for people and ensuring that our families can prosper.”

Rick Glumac will join David Eby and 91 other exceptional BC NDP candidates in this fall’s provincial election, all committed to real action to help people build a good life here in BC.
