Statement on September Labour Force Survey
Adrian Dix, candidate for Vancouver - Renfrew issued the following statement:
“Across the country we are seeing the impact of Trump’s trade war with 68,000 jobs lost nationally. We need to continue to stand together as Team Canada and grow an economy that’s less dependent on the United States.”
“David Eby and the BC NDP just delivered the single largest private sector investment in B.C. history with LNG Canada Phase 2, which will support thousands of jobs here.
B.C. saw the fastest per capita GDP growth in the country among major provinces last year.
Our exports to non-US destinations are up 16% and $130 billion in major projects are currently on the way in BC - more than any other province, representing over 50,000 construction and long-term jobs.
While the conservatives are promising to double car insurance rates which would drive up costs for small businesses, we are focused on keeping costs down and making things easier for small businesses. That's why our plan includes a new youth jobs credit for small businesses that hire youth for their first job, and new loans for tariff and wildfire affected businesses to protect good jobs right now.
The BC NDP will continue to stand up for BC workers by moving forward with major projects that are bringing in billions of dollars of investments and tens of thousands of jobs”
Under the BC NDP, B.C. has gained over 350,000 jobs since 2017, including over 140,000 in the private sector.
