Statement from Tamara Davidson on Emily Lowan’s openness to supporting a Conservative government
Yesterday Emily Lowan was asked by The Tyee if she could support the Conservatives in a minority government. She said “I don’t think we can rule anything out at this point.”
This morning she told CTV she would “lean” towards the NDP, but did not rule out partnering with the Conservatives.
Statement from Tamara Davidson, North Coast BC NDP Candidate:
“I can respect the vision that Emily Lowan has, but I found these comments pretty shocking.
“The BC Conservatives are running a candidate that said that First Nations have to be conquered, have committed to repeal DRIPA, and undermine Indigenous rights. They also have candidates who spread conspiracy theories about climate science and vaccines, and someone who thinks it’s immoral to be gay.
“The damage caused by a Conservative government would be catastrophic. For progressives, the only appropriate response to this question is to rule out putting the Conservatives in power.
“It’s clearer than ever that the way to stop the Conservatives is to vote BC NDP.”
