1000 BC NDP-ers turn the historic Commodore Ballroom orange!

Whew! What a day!

With just 16 days left until election day, BC NDP leader John Horgan brought down the house at the historic Commodore Ballroom with the largest rally by any party of this campaign.

If you didn’t believe that BC was ready to come together for change before, you’ll certainly believe it now. If you weren’t lucky enough to be there for today’s rally, here’s everything you missed.

First things first: We brought. down. the. house.

The rally reached capacity at the Commodore Ballroom with 1,000+ supporters spending their Sunday with John Horgan.

And, in an achievement that makes our digital director Karl really happy, we kinda broke the internerds. #BetterBC trended on Twitter during the rally.

Adorable kids did their thing (adorably).

BC NDP candidate for Coquitlam-Burke Mountain Jodie Wickens brought her kids on stage.

Melanie Mark reminded us to pull together.

And she talked about how John Horgan is the Premier to bring reconciliation into action in this province.

“I have a call to action. Are you ready to warrior up? Are you ready to paddle together? Are you ready to get a Premier that’s got your back?” - BC NDP candidate for Vancouver Mount-Pleasant Melanie Mark

Mike and Laura Irving talked about how hard it was to find a home in Metro Vancouver — and how they know a BC NDP government will help.

The Irvings both work in the insurance industry and they can’t get into the housing market in BC. They have been renting for the last 3 years in Burnaby while looking at places that will give them a two-hour commute.

“What frustrates me the most is not that we can’t buy a home...it’s that nothing is being done about this. What we need is someone to deal with this now and make this situation better. That’s why we’re supporting John Horgan and the BCNDP,” said Mike. You can read more about what we’ll be doing on housing here.

John Horgan took the stage - and owned it.

But not before taking time for this epic selfie — captured from two different angles!

He sounded the alarm about Christy Clark’s scheme to bring more private health care to BC.

“The BC Liberals and their donors think it’s just fine if they get to to the front of the line while the rest of us wait,” said Horgan. You can share a tweet about healthcare.

He shared a story of the time this government left him speechless — literally.

Christy Clark and the BC Liberals have hurt the services you count on, like education. They wasted millions in the courts fighting teachers and hurting our kids’ education. “After going to the Supreme Court and fighting a 16-year-battle with teachers and families, Christy Clark says she’ll invest in our kids. Who says that?!”

Most of all, he reminded us why we were here today: because after 16 years, we’re ready to come together and make a change on May 9.

There were 1,000 fired-up people in the Commodore Ballroom today, but there are thousands more across BC who are ready to elect a Premier that works for us on May 9.
