The minimum wage needs to be $15 an hour

Yesterday in Kamloops I announced that an NDP government will give British Columbia’s lowest paid workers a raise.

The minimum wage needs to be $15 an hour and I’m going to get it there within our first term in office.

People are feeling the squeeze of ever rising Hydro rates and MSP premiums, not to mention the cost of renting or owning a home.

Christy Clark ran on a Families First agenda but people have never been her priority.

She has put the wealthy and well-connected first, time and time again, at the expense of the rest of us.

She has chosen to keep minimum wages among the lowest in Canada. I am going to change that.

Minimum wages are not just for kids doing summer jobs.

People throughout the economy are trying to live on poverty wages. It isn’t right. It isn’t fair. And I’m going to fix that.
