After three days of celebration, policy discussion, trainings and speeches, the BC NDP concluded its 46th Convention this afternoon with a renewed commitment to policies that put people first.

“It was an inspiring weekend and a great opportunity to connect with so many New Democrats from around the province,” said BC NDP Leader John Horgan. “We’ve accomplished so much over the last two years to make life better for British Columbians, but there’s still more to do. We’re going to keep working on building a better BC for everyone.”

Over the weekend, delegates debated and voted on resolutions related to policies to improve the lives of British Columbians. Successful resolutions included:

• Enhancing the diversity of representation so it reflects the diversity of British Columbia.
• Pressuring the federal government to deliver more affordable cell phone and internet options.
• Supporting the Period Promise by encouraging government to offer free menstrual products in all public buildings in BC
• Recommitting to investing in childcare
• Ending parking fees at hospitals
• Lowering voting age to 16

The BC NDP Convention ran Friday through Sunday. Nearly 700 New Democrats gathered at the Victoria Conference Centre debating policy resolutions, participating in trainings and workshops and electing Party leadership.
