BC NDP’s Jagrup Brar seeks re-election in Surrey-Fleetwood

Jagrup Brar has been acclaimed as the BC NDP’s candidate in Surrey-Fleetwood.

A four-time MLA and the former Executive Director of the Surrey Self-Employment and Entrepreneur Development Society, Jagrup Brar is the current BC NDP MLA for Surrey-Fleetwood, and has been acclaimed as the NDP candidate in the riding ahead of the next scheduled election in Fall 2021.

“I’m delighted to run again as the BC NDP candidate for Surrey-Fleetwood, as part of Premier John Horgan’s team,” said Brar. “After 16 years of BC Liberals working for the wealthy and well-connected, we’ve made great progress for people in Surrey. Andrew Wilkinson would work for the people at the top and make everyone pay for it with service cuts and tax hikes. That’s too big a risk for people in our communities.”

Over the last three years, Brar and the BC NDP have delivered big investments and improvements for people in Surrey, including:

  • Investing in healthcare including the long-overdue 2nd Surrey hospital and cancer clinic;
  • Cutting MRI wait times and expanding local healthcare services, including a new Urgent and Primary Care Centre;
  • Eliminating tolls on the Port Mann and Golden Ears bridges, saving commuters up to $900 annually, and truck drivers up to $1,800 each year;
  • Building seven new local schools and upgrading six others so students have a safe place to learn; and
  • Cutting the small business tax rate and hiring local companies and workers for major infrastructure projects like the new Patullo Bridge.

“Jagrup Brar is a great MLA who truly cares about his constituents in Surrey-Fleetwood and works hard every day to make their lives better,” said Premier John Horgan. “Together we’re making a real difference for people in Surrey, improving healthcare, investing in education, and building roads and bridges to cut traffic gridlock. And though we’re on the right track, we know there’s more work to do. That’s why we need to re-elect Jagrup Brar.”
