Doerkson snaps at a reporter for asking why he’s been avoiding media questions

After avoiding journalists for most of the week, Interim Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson and his staff snapped back at a reporter for daring to ask one this afternoon.

A Conservative staffer attempted to talk over the journalist as supporters yelled “go away!”

An exasperated Doerkson responded “I spoke yesterday,” as if that makes up for:

  • Taking no questions on three of the final four days before tomorrow’s election
  • Holding only four media availabilities in the last 14 days
  • Holding more invite-only $1,500 fundraisers than media availabilities in the last two weeks
  • Banning follow-up questions from journalists after he struggled with details in his first three press conferences
  • Failing or refusing to answer questions with anything but platitudes

Mike Farnworth: “Hard to remember the last time I saw a party leader avoid questions for an entire campaign, and then snap at a journalist for asking him one.”

A tally of questions and media availabilities by leader is available here.

David Eby challenged Doerkson on hiding from journalists earlier today.
