John Rustad hiding his plan to increase class sizes, make our kids pay
In a press release that’s now been deleted from the BC Conservative party website, John Rustad failed to come clean on his plan to cram more kids into classrooms - because he knows people won’t support it.
Earlier this year, John Rustad revealed that he wanted to increase class sizes by 20 percent. And he did it before. John Rustad and the BC Liberals fought all the way to the Supreme Court to increase class sizes.
They closed 267 schools, froze school capital funding for eight years, and sold off 48 pieces of public land earmarked for future schools. Parents were forced to fundraise for playground equipment.
David Eby and the BC NDP are taking action to give B.C. kids the quality education they deserve. They have hired over 5,700 new teachers and achieved the smallest class sizes in a decade, are building 125 new and expanded schools in growing communities, and introduced new restrictions on cellphones in schools, so kids focus on their learning.
B.C.’s student achievement scores from the OECD's Programme for International Student Assessment show that B.C’s PISA ranking has gone up since 2018, and B.C. students continue to perform above the OECD average in math, science and reading.
