NDP's Casavant the only candidate in BC endorsed by his opponent

OAK BAY —BC NDP candidate Bryce Casavant (Oak Bay-Gordon Head) is the only candidate in BC from any party who has the endorsement of his opponent on his leaflet.

"My opponent, Andrew Weaver, offered me a seat in his party if I ran elsewhere, and had some very kind words of endorsement," said Casavant. "I’ve knocked on thousands of doors in this campaign and talked to a lot of people about what matters most in this election. I’m proud that even my opponent says I'm the right person for the job."

"So far, Christy Clark is the only party leader who has not endorsed me. In fact, she tried to fire me when I refused to kill two baby bears as a conservation officer. But I stood up to her and won."

In a message to Casavant following the bear cub incident, Green Party Leader and opposing candidate in Oak Bay-Gordon Head offered a seat to Casavant if he ran somewhere else, calling Casavant a "person of principle and integrity."

"I thank Mr. Weaver for his offer, but I'm proud to stand with John Horgan and the BC NDP," said Casavant. "I'm running because I couldn't afford to sit on the sidelines, or to join Mr. Weaver's party and open the door to four more years of Christy Clark."
