Premier Horgan's statement on Sisters in Spirit

Today Premier John Horgan released the following statement on Sisters in Spirit:

“Today we honour the lives of the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people,” said John Horgan. “Communities, families and friends are coming together across BC and Canada to share their stories, light candles, attend virtual vigils and to demand action. Because the loss of a loved one due to violence, is one life lost too many.”
“We join the call to action,” continued Horgan. “To stand with grieving families and end the violence experienced by far too many Indigenous women and girls. And to commit to a path forward that is directly informed by survivors, family members, and communities.”

The BC NDP acknowledges and recognizes the strength and resiliency of the families, survivors, and the many loved ones who have been stolen, whose stories and experiences led to the establishment of the Sisters in Spirit Vigil and the February 14 Women’s Memorial March, and who continue to hold us all to account.
