BC NDP Candidate Niki Sharma is calling out comments that Andrew Wilkinson has made about service industry workers. Wilkinson said:

“We can’t all serve coffee to people in Kitsilano. Let’s underline that. We are not going to be a barista society and hope for the best. And somebody will come along and give us a tip. We have to be a place where people make their own living and prove to be successful in their own right.” (Audio)

“I've worked in a restaurant. Service industry workers work hard for every dollar. They are important to our neighbourhoods and economy. This is offensive. Mr. Wilkinson is out of touch. Someone asking to be Premier should know better.”
