For 16 years, the BC Liberals put the wealthy and well-connected ahead of people like you. Andrew Wilkinson, the new BC Liberal Leader, has the same out-of-touch policies that would cost people more.
Here are the things you should know:
• He would give up to $3 billion in tax breaks to the richest British Columbians and big corporations. This will mean higher taxes and fees for everyone else, and cuts to services like healthcare and education.
• He would cancel the plan to reduce ICBC rates by 20%.
• He would bring back MSP fees, taking $1,800 a year out of the pockets of families.
• He promised to cancel the speculation and vacancy tax that has allowed John Horgan and the BC NDP to reduce vacant homes and bring more rentals onto the market.
• He and his BC Liberal colleagues oppose our childcare plan that reduced fees for 63,000 kids. They would cancel the fee reductions and drive up costs again.
• Andrew Wilkinson doesn't understand the reality of BC renters, and when commenting on the high cost of rental housing said renting is a “rite of passage” and a “wacky time.”
• When he was last in cabinet, Andrew Wilkinson sold off 164 parcels of land for less than their appraised value, often to BC Liberal donors. That's land that should have been used to build schools, hospitals, and affordable housing.
If he is elected, Andrew Wilkinson would put all of the work that John Horgan and the NDP have done for people at risk. His policies would put BC's recovery in jeopardy.
Andrew Wilkinson is a risk we can't afford.
