Director of Donor Engagement
British Columbia’s New Democrats are the political arm of BC’s majority government: a progressive and vibrant party working to make life better for everyday people.
The Director of Donor Engagement will join a high-performing team at our Provincial Office in Vancouver and work closely with staff and volunteers throughout the province. You’ll help grow our party, build our movement, and help elect the leaders who’ll represent British Columbians and our shared values in our provincial legislature.
What we’re looking for
Reporting to the Provincial Director, the Director of Donor Engagement will help us take our fund development and donor stewardship programs to the next level with a collaborative, hands-on and data-driven approach to meeting and exceeding our fundraising goals.
Using their knowledge of small-dollar individual donor fundraising, the successful candidate will create integrated offline and online strategies to diversify the party’s fundraising sources, increase annual revenues, train staff and volunteers, and foster a culture of fundraising. They’ll also work closely with other departments, stakeholders and vendors to produce materials and events that support and enhance our fundraising efforts.
If you are an experienced, creative, thoughtful data-focused fundraiser looking for purpose-driven work that truly makes a difference, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities
The Director of Donor Engagement will:
- Oversee, implement, and refine the BC NDP’s small-dollar fundraising and stewardship programs with an eye on donor experience;
- Develop the BC NDP’s central fundraising strategy with an emphasis on the integration of all fundraising channels, including digital, mail, phone, events, text, and other fund development campaigns;
- Lead the development, testing and implementation of new fundraising and stewardship programs;
- Oversee the BC NDP’s phonebank and email program, including fundraising, stewardship, and mobilization;
- Implement the BC NDP’s annual fundraising direct mail program;
- Oversee the BC NDP’s digital acquisition program, ensuring list growth and retention;
- Set and achieve ambitious short-term goals and help achieve long-term financial growth for the organization;
- Provide fundraising leadership, training and development to volunteers and staff;
- Take the lead on our signature fundraising and engagement events;
- Manage all aspects of fundraising and the staff responsible for it, develop and adhere to budgets, and report regularly to the Provincial Director and governing bodies of the party;
- Participate in organization-wide strategic planning as a member of the management team; and
- Thrive in a fast-paced political environment, manage competing deadlines, and work long and irregular hours when needed.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in both fundraising and leadership roles.
- A proven track record of strategic, multi-channel fundraising and a demonstrated ability to hit revenue targets.
- Hands-on experience with fundraising channels, including direct mail and digital, and strong writing skills.

- Experience presenting strategies and reports to high-level audiences.
- A keen political eye with progressive values and a solid understanding of both the BC NDP and BC’s political landscape.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge and ability to work in additional languages are always an asset.
