We want what’s best for BC

Premier Notley and I are old friends. We share a great deal in common. Like Rachel, I believe in standing up for working people.

Just like Rachel, we want a $15 minimum wage by the end of our first term. We want a ban on corporate and union donations to bring an end to big money in our province's politics. We want affordable childcare for families. And just like Rachel, we want our schools and health care funded properly.

Rachel wants what's best for Alberta. We want what's best for BC.

That’s why we fundamentally disagree on Kinder Morgan’s proposed 7-fold increase in tanker traffic on our coast. This project will not benefit BC workers.

We know how raw log exports have devastated our resource economy in small and rural communities. We don't need Raw Logs 2.0.

We don't ever want to see workers in British Columbia suffering like we see workers suffering now in Alberta. This is big money coming to our town, wanting what’s best for the bottom line of companies from Texas, not workers and towns in BC. We're ready to stand up to this big money.

We want a real sustainable resource and wildlife management plan for British Columbia that produces good-paying work for British Columbians - and western Canadians.

That includes protection for grizzly bears from trophy hunting, sustainable forest management and local log processing in local mills. It means investing in renewable energy and sustainable development. It does not include more tankers on British Columbian waters.

We are firm in our commitment to work together with a New Democrat government in Alberta, where we can agree, to make a better future for BC, Alberta, western Canada and all Canadians. A future that is truly sustainable and proudly progressive.

That future begins in British Columbia.
