BC NDP

People in BC could soon lose access to reproductive freedom, care, and birth control.

It sounds unbelievable. But it’s true: John Rustad is giving his crew of anti-choice evangelists free-reign to vote against abortion. His candidates are openly anti-choice and embarrassingly ignorant about reproductive health.

Rustad’s candidates have earned the endorsement of anti-abortion activists. His second in command, Bruce Banman, says motherhood begins “from the moment of conception.” Rustad himself said it was “nuts” for government to fund free birth control.

The BC NDP is a recognized leader in reproductive health. Birth control is free. At-home cervical cancer screening is free and available. Gynecological cancer treatment and surgery is expanded. Our next step is free hormone replacement therapy for people going through menopause. And there’s much more to do.

We’ve seen what a handful of anti-choice politicians can do from our neighbours in the US. Anti-choice activists are finding more underhanded ways to block access to reproductive healthcare.

Advocates and experts agree that a Conservative leader in BC could leave British Columbians at risk. At best, a leader like John Rustad could stall the progress we’ve made. At worst, his party could block access altogether, creating areas in the province where abortion services are unavailable and putting British Columbians in serious danger.

It doesn’t have to be this way. If you believe a small group of politicians shouldn’t be able to take away your right to reproductive freedom, sign here.
