BC NDP nominates Bob D’Eith in Maple Ridge East to keep taking action for you and your family

Family, friends, and volunteers from across the region cheered as Bob D’Eith was nominated the BC NDP’s candidate in Maple Ridge East for this fall’s election.

A lawyer, author, and musician, Bob D'Eith was first elected in 2017. Since then he has served in several roles with the BC NDP government, including as Parliamentary Secretary for Arts and Film, and as the Chair of Select Standing Committee for Finance and Government Services. He is a fierce advocate for people in Mission and Maple Ridge, helping to implement affordable childcare, develop more healthcare services, create more school spaces, and build strong communities that are safe and inclusive for all.

“Mission and Maple Ridge are two of the fastest growing municipalities in BC, and people here are facing big challenges,” D’Eith said. “There is much work to do in our cities, such as the Mission Waterfront Project, completion of the proposed Maple Ridge Rapid Transit system, and the expansion of healthcare and education services. We can’t risk what a Conservative or BCU government would cost us, and I will keep fighting hard so people can build a good life here.”

Since forming government in July 2017, D’Eith and the BC NDP have taken action on crucial issues that matter to the people of Maple Ridge East, including:

  • Strengthening healthcare by building the Ridge-Meadows Urgent and Primary Care Centre;
  • Hiring new doctors and nurses, and licensing internationally-trained health professionals to work in the region;
  • Funding a CT scanner for Mission Memorial Hospital;
  • Supporting seniors by building the Boswyk Seniors Housing in Mission and securing funding for new seniors housing on Royal Crescent in Maple Ridge;
  • Tackling housing prices by taking on real estate speculators and building more homes for people;
  • Improving education by investing schools with the new Mission Senior Secondary School and a new Eric Langton Elementary in Maple Ridge; and
  • Improving infrastructure by completing the upgrading Highway 7 to four lanes between Maple Ridge and Mission.

“Bob D’Eith is dedicated to Mission and Maple Ridge and helping to improve life for people living here,” said Premier David Eby. “He’s built incredible relationships with both city councils, school boards, community and seniors’ networks, businesses and more. That’s why he’s such a great champion of the priorities that matter Mission and Maple Ridge residents.”

The BC NDP will run a full slate of 93 candidates when British Columbians go to the polls on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
