Statement from John Horgan on National Day of Mourning

VICTORIA— John Horgan issued the following statement to mark the National Day of Mourning for workers killed and injured in the workplace.

“Today we honour the memory of BC workers who were killed or injured while working to earn a living. No words can ever fill the void left behind by a loved one who went to work and never came home. We cannot begin to imagine the pain and heartache their families feel on this day, and every day.

“What we can and must do is make work safer for people. That includes a review of WorkSafeBC and stronger health and safety standards, so that every BC worker comes home at the end of the day and nobody has to work in unsafe conditions.

“To the families of the workers we’ve lost: We share your grief. We will remember. We will act.”
