Four ways David Eby will make child care work for your family

Child care fees in B.C. are already down by more than half. David Eby's plan protects those savings and opens more spaces where families need them.

  1. 1

    7,200 new spaces at school

Before- and after-school care right on school grounds, so drop-offs and pick-ups are easier and kids are somewhere they already know. Backed by $80 million.

  2. 2

A hard fee cap for every family

A universal cap on child care fees, like Ontario's, part of $250 million in new provincial funding to bring in more federal dollars.

  3. 3

    More affordable spaces

More affordable child care spaces across B.C., working with the federal government and the child care sector.

  4. 4

Better pay for early childhood educators

Better wages and working conditions for the people who care for our kids, including a provincial wage grid.

Eby fought to make child care a central part of the Canada-BC Prosperity Agreement, which sets a December 1 deadline to renegotiate child care funding with Ottawa. He'll keep working with Prime Minister Mark Carney to get it done.

Already saving families money

  • Cut fees by more than half, from $47 to $19 a day on average
  • Saving families about $7,200 a year
  • Created 64,000 new child care spaces, up 50%
  • Raised early childhood educator wages to nearly $30 an hour

The Conservatives won't say if they'd scrap the cap on child care fee increases, or what they'd cut to pay for their promises. Working families would pay the price.

"A tax credit doesn't build a single space."
